About

Skate: Pure theatre spectacle

SKATE is a thrilling new show that combines skateboarding, percussion, movement and projection in a way you have never seen before.

Award-winning theatre-makers Big hART have created an extraordinary theatrical experience that celebrates the artfulness of skateboarding and the universal connection of rhythm. The cast tap, roll, flip and trick out a contagious percussive score whilst performing incredible physical feats of skating and movement. This high-powered drumming and action ignites interactive projection, illuminating the world of SKATE with electric imagery. Be transported as the performers roll out intricate beats and paint the stage with light, transforming a night at the theatre into a breathtaking sensory experience.

Skate: A social investment opportunity

SKATE is a social enterprise strategy designed to support Big hART’s vital cultural development work in marginalised communities through the profits it generates at box office.

It is also an impact investment opportunity, designed to generate strong social and financial returns for Big hART and co-investors. Profits from SKATE will help future-proof Big hART as a company so we can continue to drive positive social change around the country. In this innovative sustainability model, profits feed back into the company, enabling us to become independent from grants and limited funding opportunities. The show is designed to have broad commercial appeal and generate exceptionally strong box office. With no language barriers and its percussively and visually spectacular combination of dance, music, image and skateboarding, SKATE can play successfully anywhere around the globe. Big hART invites forward-thinking early adopters to join us in this innovative impact investment opportunity.
